LOWRIDER INSPIRATION
The Philippine jeepney, an iconic symbol of Filipino culture, boasts a history as vibrant as its colorful exteriors. Originating in the aftermath of World War II, the jeepney began its journey as a clever adaptation of surplus military jeeps left by American forces. As resourceful Filipinos transformed these wartime relics into a means of public transport, the jeepney soon became more than just a mode of conveyance; it evolved into a reflection of the country's resilience, ingenuity, and community spirit. The history of the Philippine jeepney is, in essence, a testament to the enduring Filipino spirit. With each ride an exhilarating journey through the city's heart, where chaos and efficiency merge in a unique dance of movement and energy.
The LowRider design takes the Philippine jeepney and reimagines it through the lens of SoCal lowrider culture, blending two iconic automotive traditions into a striking fusion of shared history. Designs both on heavyweight tee and hoodie!

DEATH FROM ABOVE INSPIRATION
The Philippine Eagle, also known as the monkey-eating eagle, is one of the world's largest and most powerful birds of prey, endemic to the Philippines. With incredible precision and speed, it dives down from great heights (Death From Above) to capture its prey, showcasing its prowess and the rich biodiversity of the Philippines. Its wingspan can reach up to seven feet, allowing it to soar majestically over the lush rainforests of Luzon, Leyte, Mindanao, and Samar. As a top predator, the eagle plays a critical role in maintaining the balance of its ecosystem, preying on small mammals, birds, and reptiles to support the intricate web of life in its habitat.
Despite its strength and dominance, the Philippine Eagle faces significant threats, with deforestation and habitat loss pushing it to the brink of extinction. Conservation efforts have intensified to protect this majestic bird, which is not only a symbol of the Philippines’ natural beauty but also of the nation's resilience and commitment to preserving its wildlife. With fewer than 400 individuals left in the wild, the Philippine Eagle stands as a reminder of the urgent need for environmental stewardship to ensure that future generations can witness its grandeur.
Inspired by vintage animal prints, old school Harley Davidson tees, and iconic Marlboro designs, Death From Above is a full color front graphic print of the "Monkey eating" eagle ready to swoop in for the kill.

BOLIINAO SKULL INSPIRATION
The Gold Grills was just not for the streets. In the 1960s, an excavation in Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines, discovered the Bolinao Skull adorned with intricate gold dental decorations, showcasing the advanced craftsmanship of pre-colonial Filipinos. This 14th-15th century artifact provides a fascinating insight into ancient Filipino traditions and the significance of body ornamentation. The gold inlays on the teeth were not merely decorative but were likely a symbol of status, wealth, and power, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of early Filipinos who valued personal adornment as a marker of social standing.
The discovery of the Bolinao Skull sheds light on the sophistication of pre-colonial Filipino society, particularly in metalworking and artistry. Gold was abundant in the Philippine archipelago, and its use in body modification illustrates the importance of aesthetics and identity among early inhabitants. This practice of dental ornamentation parallels other Southeast Asian cultures, but the craftsmanship seen in the Bolinao Skull stands out for its detail and complexity. Today, the skull remains a key piece of the Philippines' archaeological history, offering a glimpse into a time when gold was not only a form of currency but also an integral part of personal expression and cultural identity.

PINTADOS INSPIRATION
The Pintados were the indigenous people of the Visayas in the Philippines, renowned for their extensive body tattoos. Spanish colonizers in the 16th century coined the term "Pintados," meaning "painted ones," due to the intricate tattoos that covered their bodies from head to toe. These tattoos were not just decorative but held deep cultural significance. They were earned through acts of bravery in battle or significant achievements, serving as a visual record of a warrior's strength and accomplishments. The more tattoos one had, the higher their status and respect within the community.
Tattooing was a sacred art form among the Pintados, performed in ritualistic ceremonies. Using tools like sharp thorns and natural pigments, their tattoos often depicted geometric patterns, animals, and elements of nature, each symbol holding specific meanings. Aside from marking personal achievements, the tattoos also served as spiritual protection, believed to shield warriors from harm in battle. Despite Spanish efforts to suppress this tradition, the legacy of the Pintados lives on, reflecting the rich history and artistic heritage of pre-colonial Filipinos, and inspiring modern-day tattoo culture in the Philippines.
Unleash your inner warrior with the Pintados Service Jacket that pays homage to the Pintados' rich tattoo tradition.
